Can we do anything better than the Holy Spirit?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Dear Christian friends, It bothers me that there is so little teaching and preaching about who the Holy Spirit is in our prostestant churches. The Holy Spirit is God's presence on Earth living in each believer and attempting to save unbelievers. He empowers us christians to understand the word of God and then live according to the word of God. I don't know about you but I don't have the will power to love thy neighbor as thyself. I need divine power to do so. I am also troubled that too many prostestant churches don't have more emphasis on the Holy Spirit in the life of the church. Some think that the Holy Spirit does not have to lead them and guide them in doing God's work. Jesus said in John 15:5 that " apart from me you can do nothing" Warren W. Wiersbe said that " It is futile to attempt to do God's work without the power of the Holy Spirit". Why is there so little emphasis on the Holy Spirit in our churches? Do we believe that we can do God's business better than he can?

although i am not a member of your church, i am a lutheran by birth, but i like to attend your church regulary. it is true this is not a comment but a acknowledgement of the said statement.

it is true that in our prostestant churches the teaching of the holy- spirit is not taugth so much. we are told about the son the father but when it comes to the holy-spirit there is little or no teaching of the holy-spirit. well god has given us more to do throug the power of the spirit what are we waiting for. this is do me way there is a exodus of christians from our churhes to the so-called repented movements where the spirit of our living god is experienced, feel and utilize to the maximum. my plea to our god is to send his holy spirit down so that a revilene will take place in our churches. long live the protestant churches
