I believe that you have touched on one of the most important subject areas in the church today. From personal pastoral experience, I would recommend that you ask your YPD what it is that they want to do and establish some guidelines around their interest.

Three years ago, Heard Chapel AME Church, where I pastor, wanted to involve the youth in the Womens Day celebration. The Chairperson thought of a choir of young women. The young women wanted to have a liturgical dance group instead. Three years later this dance group is still going and growing. This year we have introduce males to the senior group and established a junior group with males and females. The dance group attendance has also helped to revitalize our YPD. I recommend that you talk with your pastor, officers and YPD. May God bless your every effort in this important area of ministry.

I set aside about 15 minutes each Sunday for the Youth Sermon. I try to pique the interest by some unusal beginnings. When Tiger Woods started his run to Number 1 Golfer, I strolled in swinging a golf club and talked about Tiger's dedication to the game of golf as an example of what one can accomplish when his/her life is dedicated to God first, then personal goals.

Blessings
