Anybody had luck with exporting PowerPoint to VCD??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Just wondering if anybody has spent some time trying to do this and what sort of success and final product quality they were able to get. PowerPoint can offer a lot of flexibility on how you offer up vcd content.

When you make a series or stills with powerpoint and you are finished with the series you can put them on a VCD by saving them as .jpg or .gif format, depending on the burning software you are using. Use the save as.. in the file menu. That's all.

As far as the quality of the final product is concerned, I find it as good as pho0to's you burn onto a VCD. In many cases I include in the powerpoint slide a photo which allows me to add text next to the photo. I like it better that way than the possibity WinOnCD3.8 gives you in adding text in the still and frames around it.

Actually, i was referring to moving animations, moreso that just gabbing screenshots and i think i may have answered my own question. Those of you wanting to "capture" content that doesnt go thru a vid card such as streaming media or Flash 5 files will be interested in this.

Method: 1.Start PowerPoint. Open your presentation. 2.Start Microsoft Camcorder (Start Menu/Programs/Microsoft Camcorder by default) 3.In Microsoft Camcorder, set the preferences (Movie/Preferences, make sure Always On Top and Hide Stop Button while recording are checked. Also select a stop key combination not used in your presentation (it's Esc by default, change it to A with no Shift or control). Press OK. 4.Flip back to PowerPoint, and select View/Slide Show (the Camcorder window should still appear on top) 5.Select Movie/Recorder from the Camcorder menu. Camcorder should now disappear. 6.Walk through your PowerPoint presentation, using the mouse to proceed through the pages. 7.When you reach the last slide (I suggest you add a blank slide at the end for a "clean ending") and stop there, press the "A" (or key you've chosen). 8.Flip back to PowerPoint and press Esc to stop the presentation. 9.Flip back to Microsoft Camcorder, and select File/SaveAs. You can then save it as an AVI. 10.Close PowerPoint, close Camcorder. To check your AVI you can reload it into Microsoft Camcorder (using File Open, and select Movie/Play).

Hi Everyone, Microsoft Camcorder is supposedly a freeware program now, I've seen it on a couple of sites. Here's a link to those interested (it's only around 600k): "http://tecfa.unige.ch/pub/software/win95/bureautique/office97 /addons/camcorder/camcordr.exe"

enjoy!

Hi again,

Seems like the file I previously mentioned was in some other language than English. Here's an English version link: "http://www.filelibrary.com:8080/cgi- bin/freedownload/Windows/m/134/camcordr.zip"

Hi Ive been trying to do the above procedure and the only copy of camcorder that i can find is french. The link on this page doesnt work for me. Every time I try and record I get the usual message 'in french' telling me about limited space, even though I dont have anything open. Ive tried lowering res on screen ,no dif. I have office 2000 and cant seem to find a copy of camcorder either on my disks or on the net. Have they designed something else for 2000. Please help as this will stop me going mad. I need to know the following:- 1. Where can I find camcorder in english for office 2000 2. How can I make sure that it doesnt stop working after 5 secs 3. If I can get it working will I be able to record an hour presentation for conversion ready for vcd. 4. If all else fails what does anybody suggest to copy a 1 hr presenation to vcd or dvd to be played as a running thing with graphics.

Please help

An easy way is to stream the powerpoint to t.v. and capture that with a dvd burner.

This tutorial explains how to capture and convert a powerpoint presentation to a DVD (although you can choose SVCD or VCD, when it comes to making the disc). The beauty of this method is that it captures all the animations. It's not just a series of static pages.

More of a question... Seems that Microsoft Camcorder needs to run on 95 or 98... anyone find a solution like camcorder that runs on XP?

Thanks.

Taj Simmons' solution works - I've tried it. Just instead of burning to dvd, burn to vcd. I've tried for ages to find a way of doing this. Cheers Taj

I saw a post from January looking for something other than MSCAM to work on something other than 95/98. I ran accross MS Producer for powerpoint 2002/03. I'm downloading the 46mb file now and will give that a shot. Just wanted to pass it on. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=1B3C76D5- FC75-4F99-94BC-784919468E73&displaylang=en
