When, in the Church's opinion, should one obtain a spiritual director? How does one go about finding a spiritual director?

Hi, Julie Ann.
You may want to consider this. St. James, pray for us. St. John of the Cross, pray for us.

Greetings Julie: You should ask Jesus Christ who is the overseer of our souls, who died and rose again to save us from our sins. Have a blessed day as he is the liveing waters!

Thank you John, so very much, for directing me to St. John of the Cross! I have read so very much about St. Therese of Liseaux and her great love for and trust in the teachings of this great saint! Thank you also for directing me to the article by Joseph Kozlowski. I have read it over and over again, thus delaying this thank-you note to you. I love and try with all my heart to live the "little way" of St. Therese every day. I have also become immersed in the way of "abandonment to Divine Providence" as described by Jean-Pierre de Caussade. John, do you think that either of these paths toward greater love for our Lord are in keeping with the teachings of St. John of the Cross? I am a 42 yr. old, divorced/annulled, working mother of two teenagers. Although I feel my life is totally centered on my love for Jesus and Mary, St. John's teachings sometimes compel me to feel that I am just treading water... What do you think? I'd appreciate your insight. Thank you again. St. John of the Cross pray for us!

Thank you, Julie. It is a privilege to be able to help such a kind person as yourself in any small way.

I wish that I could answer your questions, but I feel much too inadequate and ill-equipped to do so. I can only say that I have never heard or read a bad word about the Little Flower, St. John, and Caussade.

Based on what you have said about yourself, I think that I should probably come to you for spiritual direction.

I hope you won't mind, Julie, that I am going to send you a private e-mail note with a bit of information that may be helpful to you.

God bless you.
John
