I need some advice about Butter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just received about 60 pds of butter. Has anyone ever froze butter? Does the butter taste different when froze. I do have a canning recipe for it, but I have a lot of freezer space right now and would like to be a little lazy, and put some up in the freezer. All responses will be appreciated, and a big thank you in advance. Love in Christ, Judy

In my experience real butter freezes great! Just freeze in original paper (if store bought) or in freezer paper and it should be fine for quite some time!

I second the last response. I have frozen both store bought butter and fresh goat's butter for several months with no loss of flavor!!

HI Judy, I just took some butter out of the freezer I've had in there for four years! It was just fine. I always freeze butter and magerine. :) tang

Yep, I freeze butter, margarine (anytime they are on sale, I buy extra) and when I render lard (just do small amounts at a time from our pork fat) - I freeze it too. Works great!

Yep, it freezes very well!

Just be sure to wrap it well if you're going to store it for a long time, and make sure you don't put it next to anything strong flavored. (Like green peppers! Ever had Green-Pepper ice cream? Yuck!) Don't ask how I know.
