Lurkess Registered User posts: 1 (1/11/01 9:07:37 am) | Del This is my first visit. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, All. My name is Lurkess, and I've been a lurker/poster on the TimeBomb board for about two years (gosh, time does go by fast as one gets older...hehe. However, it does beat the alternative!). As you can probably guess, DH and I are/were Y2K preppers! Because of learning soooo much about Y2K and how our infrastructure works, we now look at life quite differently. Not trying to be a heavy "doomer" here, but we now feel it is quite prudent to store water, food, medical supplies, alternative methods of cooking and heating. No one can really be prepared 100% for any or every eventuality, but think we have beaten the odds a little. Just look at the folks in Arkansas and surrounding areas and their recent power outages and freezing temps. We live in Florida, so we are more prepared for hurricanes. Personally lived through hurricane Dora back in the 60s, and we were without power for over a week then.

Saro from TimeBomb gave me the invite to visit here.

Thank you, Saro, it is a beautiful place. Will definitely post what I can on the chemtrail issue as it is currently one of our pet peeves.

Some personal info: I'm a 50-something homemaker and mother of two grown youngins and a beautiful 10 month-old girl grand baby.

Married my high school sweetheart. This year marks the 40th anniversary of our first date! We went to the movies that night and saw "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Needless to say, that sound track including "Moon River" is "our song."

Love reading and learning about new things.

We live in north Florida with our two pets. A four-year-old guinea pig and a little parakeet that flew in to visit our bird feeder when he was just a baby three years ago. He is quite a talker, and the two critters love to romp and share fresh veggies and snacks together. Our children live in different parts of the country...daughter is closer. She lives in Orlando. So our pets have become our substitute children.

Well, enough about me. Oh, one last thing. One of my New Year's resolutions was to try and spend a little less time on the net. BUMMER! It is sooo addictive (in a good way, of course). I'll only want to lurk somewhere for a few minutes, but then end up being here two hours...hehe. Kinda puts one in an altered state. So, maybe I won't be able to post as much as I'd want to this year.

Best wishes to all.

Lurkess

P.S. Unfortunately, don't think I'll be able to use the chat room. My software won't work according to Kirstena on Currents. Again, Bummer!

Hi there Lurkess. So happy you introduced yourself. Wow, what a great family you have. I'm a real critter person and love all the fur and featherbabies. That is so cool how you came by your parakeet. LOL. Simply the best. ::smile::

I live in Florida, too. Mid-Florida. How wonderful to have married your high school sweetheart and are going to celebrate 40 years from your first date. OH MY! Many congratulations to you! ::Beaming::

Hope to see more of you. Please drop by the Cafe sometime and join in the chat and cyber goodie ... all calories removed. Hehehe Again, A very Warm Welcome. :):):)
