For Sale- registered Alpine buck kid

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I'm not sure if it's OK to post things for sale here. If it's not, please let me know and I won't do it again.

This buck kid is from some of the top blood lines in the country. Both his grandmothers were breed leaders for milk production, his maternal grand dam was #1 for butterfat in '95. His dam had not been on test yet, but has a vey nice udder. This buck should definitely improve production and udder attachment. He was born 3-10-01. We live in Bonner county Idaho. Dam is Iroquois KC mayflower, sire is Three Rings Magellan

I'm not in the market for a goat, but I think this is the ONLY type of for sale ad that should be allowed - selling a homestead produced product.

I'm in the market for a buck (for my three does), but unfortunately I live in Danville, Indiana. So…, I guess it means you wouldn't be able to Fedex it, huh? Just joking with you.

Actually David, we are going to be moving to Indiana soon. If you really are interested in a buck, let me know what you are looking for and we can bring one along!

Well Rebekah…, what a surprise! Just out of curiousity, why move to Indiana, not for me I hope (ha ha). Anyway, how much you're asking for? I'm not really picky about the registration part. My does are the result of "inter-cross breeding", I've started off with "Big Mama" and a buck (possibly her offspring), of course they breed regardless of relationship! My other two does are Big Mama's offspring and I'd like to start an "unrelated" blood line for milk & meat. I think Big Mama is a Nubian-mix stock (due to her prominant roman nose). And I don't think I would want to keep the buck (not more than two years) due to my past awful experience (see the Billy Goat thread in this forum), I've got a scar to prove it.

David the difference will be that you are not buying a "Billy Goat" from Rebekah! Though it isn't a bad idea to purchase a young buck, use him till he's two and then sell him off, especially if you only have a few does. Vicki

That's true, Vicki. That's what I had in mind to keep him up to two years or so, but if i can't sell him, well…, he'll probably wind up in the freezer. I appreciate the input.
