Northwest plane skids off Detroit runway; 2 hurt

DETROIT, March 17 (Reuters) - A Northwest Airlines plane carrying about 150 passengers and crew skidded off the runway after aborting takeoff on Saturday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, leaving two passengers with minor injuries, an airline spokeswoman said. The spokeswoman said she did not know why the Miami-bound Airbus A320 aborted takeoff at about 7 a.m. (1200 GMT). She said damage to the plane was being assessed.

"One passenger had a sprained ankle and another a sprained shoulder," she said, adding that they were treated at a hospital and released.

Northwest is the fourth largest airline in the United States. http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/reuters20010317_746.html
