Just finish building green house, I live on gulf coast. I want to plant tomatoes in clay pots, and cucumbers, and bell peppers all in clay pots. Our winter temp never gets much below freezing so will not heat. will this work or is there another way? I dont want to do the water method. I know nothing about growing in a hot house , all the help I get will be appreciated.

We live in western Wis., and need to add a little heat sometimes in our sunroom/greenhouse, which is also living space. I grow lettuce and spinach in 6" deep trays, and tomatoes adnd peppers in large pots.

Just go ahead and try it. Make sure they don't dry out.

I have been told that it helps if you can keep rabbits and aquaponic tank with catfish or such in the greenhouse to establish a small ecosystem that will help inhibite root fungus. You will also have to brush pollenate blooming plants

I have grown all three veggies in my Kitchen window with a growlight in the winter. I used a soft water color brush to pollinate. Worked fine and was sure a neat thing to do.

Irene, I was talking with my neighbor yesterday and she use to have a large very large green house until it blew down and she said that she grew tomatoes peppers and other great things in straw bales that were soaked and sitting in the floor of the green house, just soak the bales left tied and make a hole and plant the plant and it grows doesn't need much water I haven't tried this but it's an idea

Hey Irene, I would re-think the clay pot part. They tend to dry out quickly and require more watering than plastic. Hammer
