Parents with learing disabilities : LUSENET : Disabled Parents Network : One Thread

My name is Jasmine. I'm a disabled student. For part of my course I need to give a ten minute talk on the subject of my chioce. I have chosen to talk about adults with learning disabilities in their parenting role and social services involment in this. I know in some case social service take the child away because they feel the child is at risk. Why? I have heard of cases where this has happen as I sit on a advocacy and empowerment agency for people with disabilities. If someone could explain the social services reasonings for taking a child away just the parent has a label of a learning disability. I would also like from any parents who have a learning disability to get their view on how they feel social services treat them. As my own disability is physical I have very little knowledge of the way people with learning disabilities feel. My talk will take place a week on thursday so I need response as soon as possible. Many thanks

Jasmine Sykes.
