Have a Couple ??`s .......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News : One Thread

ok. yesterday i downloaded the opera5 browser. have heard many good things about it so thought i would give it a try. it`s 'slammin`' fast! problem is i can`t sign into this board on it. any ideas of why?

also while i`m at it.... is there a way to have the time of posts here? always found it nice to know who was with me on a board at any given time. [just wondering]

also, could one of you dear greenspun wizards enlighten me as to how to make a 'link' out of a url?

i`ll bake some really good chocolate cookies if you can help me out...;)

Answers

Since most are familiar with ezcodes, scroll down to the bottom right of this link, select How to use ezcodes... beneath each ezcode example they show the html equivalent....

Ezcode to HTML

Also, Mutter --

(a href = "http://www.google.com")Link(/a)

replace the ( ) with the less than sign on the left and the greater than sign on the right. I don't know if they will show up: < >

In English:

a = anchor

href = hypertext reference (the url)

/a = shut off the anchor

(a = href " the url") then you can put the title here or Link (/a)

and the /a shuts off the anchor or you'll have one long underline.

Remember to use < > for the ( ). If I used < > in the examples, they

wouldn't show up.

Okay?

Here's a related task: bold

How did I do that?

(B)bold(/B) but I used < and > instead of ( ). Remember /B to shut it off, or OG will be unhappy as the subsequent posts are all in bold.

Very nice, Mutter! The colors are dramatic without being shocking. Black is such a hard color to work with, I think, because teens pair black with neon greens, yellows, and pinks, but your colors work well.

Tried to see if you can add a time stamp to user's posts, but can't find anyway to do it... don't think you can here...

On the browser, I have no idea why it won't let you log in....

Carl asked about a timestamp on each post --

Since the posts are dated, and appear in the order they were submitted, their sequence is always clear. Does the precise time of posting make any difference?
