where are our priorities for buying in the summer

see Ronnie Gill is on about Hassan Sukur rather than an injured Bridges

Given 25 mil plus sales who would you have?

I assume Lee Clark is in. Stevie Watson, Robbie Elliott, Thompson from Cov, Ginola, Sir Les, Prutton from Forrest.

The way I see it, we need three class midfielders & a new manager.

Prutton, Bridges and Pahars for starters

Without mentioning the defence (what defence?), I would go for Bridges at all costs (if he can be bought), Michael Carrick and Matt Jansen. With that little lot, you get 2 locals and a Toon fan. Maybe just maybe then, people will stop going on and on and on about bloody Lee Clark (loves the club that much, he played for the Mackems - yes I know Bridges did but no one is going on about how much he loves NUFC). Ditto, Robbie Elliott(sp?) and Steve Watson - they are yesterday's men. They weren't good enough anyway. Oh and although Clark appears to have had a good season; it's because that's his level.

Agree SMB. Why want Lee Clark, Watson, sir Les. They were great but to get them back will not bring us any glory.

I want one more striker, two-three midfielders and a couple of defenders.

I we have all that money Hall is talking about, why not go for Sol Campbell, Bridges for exampel.

I'm suggesting Clarkie, Watson, Sir Les & Elliott as the atter two will be free & the first two are much better than we have. Lwts be realistic, we will not get glory for a while yet, the aim must be to move forward & scrape into Eurpope next year & go hell for leather to get 4th the following year.

Wastson can play RB & is a fine centre half so at £4m is almost 2 players in one and better value than the unknown Spanish donkey at 7.5m. Elliot is as good a Left Back as I've seen in B&W.

Those four buys can give a starting line up of: Given / Harper Watson/ Griffin O’brien - Hughes - Robbie Elliot Lee Clark Solano - Dyer Ginola Sir Les - Shearer

IMO, we need a big centre half in the Gary Pallister mould, a clever forward to compliment the three big guys (AS, CC & Shola), and an entire midfield.

Other than perhaps YKD, I don't think we have single m/f player who could get a game for any of the top 10 PL Clubs, and that has to be our real priority.

We need to complete the clear-out that was started but left unfinished last close season.

The clever forward is difficult, we're still thinking of a Peter Beardsley. Robbie Keane is out of our reach, then it's the likes of Tottie who again wouldn't come. Only a stop gap of Asprilla or Sheringham may give us an answer but then we've only got an ansewer for a season.

Well Dave, I think we'll have to settle for Michael Bridges or Matt Jansen.
I have real concerns over this idea of playing with two big target men, which IMO will always leave us a bit short in midfield. I believe one of the two front men needs to be able to provide the link with midfield, which as you suggest, Pedro did so brilliantly.
The other approach would be to groom YKD for this role - I'm not convinced he has a bright enough football brain to fill this role, but perhaps it will come with experience.

I'm not sure if you can teach or learn it. Gazza had it at 16 years old, he knew when to pass & when to take people on, (here I go again) Lee clark has it but plays deeper. Tino has it but is far less easy to play with & shearer would not want to learn to play with him, if t doesn't come from the wing, shearer aint interested.
