I'm confused. What are all these different types of lime? I have read of slaked lime, hydrated lime, and agricultural lime. Are there any differences between them? Are they interchangeable? Are there other types? Is there a reference book that explains this?

Sandy, Try your county ag office. They frequently have information that is very useful and have a soil testing service (at least in Mich. they do) to tell you what your soil needs. It's not all organic advice you get, but it's a start. We just bought 5 tons of agricultural lime and were we ever surprised at the small pile we got!!!
