good dog needs a home

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hello everyone, been awhile since I've posted anything. Here is the story, My husband died March 23. It was an accident, completly unexpected. He was 45. I need to move to CA and do not know if it will be fair to my dog, Jake, who has been used to a huge yard and also being let out to roam the woods. I am in Pecos NM, I am looking for someone who needs a good watch dog, he is not mean, but he will make a big fuss when strangers come by. He weighs 50 lbs, has had all his shots including heart worm, which was negative. If anyone is interested please answer this email, or call me at 505-757-3779 I am in Pecos NM, I would be willing to transport him a short distance. He is a husky cross, is very willing to work. He is not used to small children, so I would prefer he go to an adult single or couple. He likes men as well as women, he is a great dog but I feel that where I will have to live will not be good for him. He is used to a huge fenced yard, although I do let him out to roam.

I am leaving NM as soon as I can, probably take me a month to tie up all the loose ends. This is a total shock, and I am doing the best I can. Any inquires please feel free to email directly, or I will also get the responses through my email. check with people you know. He is a great dog, not friendly, but not mean, if you know what I mean. Thanks guys Tina

Oh, Tina, I am so sorry for your losses! I'll keep you in my thoughts. I can't take a dog at this time, and besides I am far away. I hope you will find someone that makes you feel confident to place your dog with him/her/them and that will keep you updated on your buddy.

Gracious, Tina, I'm sure words are very little help right now, but my heart goes out to you. I pray you have people in your life to console you at this terribly painful time. Blessings to you, and may you find peace when the pain has lessened.

Tina, I am so sorry for your loss. Words seem inadequate, please know that you are being kept in prayer....I hope you find a nice home for your Jake, like Joy said. God bless.

Tina, I also wish to offer my condolences. You have been in my prayers and in my thoughts. Michigan is a far place from NM but I will be hoping that you do find just the right home for Jake. I hope you give yourself time each day to just grieve. Only time will help the sting. God Bless and peace to you.

I'm so sorry for your shocking loss. I can't take your dog, but you might look in these places:

www.totacc.com/adavenport/milagro.html www.h4ha.org/shelters/usa/newmexico.html

These are non-traditional, no-kill shelters where you might find some help or use as a last resort. Again, sorry I couldn't do more.

Tina, My thoughts and prayers are with you. None of us can know how you feel, even if we've been there. If there is anything we on the forum can do, or if I can do something, I'd be glad too. I'll ask around here in Colorado Springs area for a home for the dog. Do you have family where you will be moving? Please take care, Jan

Tina, Sorry I just saw this post. No I can't take your dog, as I live in Wisconsin but I know exactly what you are going thru. I lost my husband suddenly 2 1/2 yrs. ago in a logging accident. It is very difficult to get by. Believe me when I tell you - it takes time - and LOTS of it!! I found a web site that helped me alot - widownet.com when you have time, go check it out - they all are in the same situation we are in and in the middle of the night, I would be reading and writing mail - go under message board to read and whatever else you need to do Take care of yourself!! Wish the best of luck to you. Girls and I will pray for you at this time. Sincerely,
