Pit Greenhouse

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Am interested if anyone on this fourm has ever built or had experiance with a Pit Greenhouse. I live in Nova Scotia and think it might extend the season a bit. Any opinions or advise would be greatly appreciated

The new issue of Countryside has a feature on a family that built a sunpit. Think this will be the route I go for the permanent one here.

We built one in the upper peninsula of Mich. and it worked great. We laid 4 ft. of block under ground with the rest of the green house above ground. Built a permanent seed bed along the one wall about 3 1/2 foot deep and could grow all kinds of things. We loved it. Jean
