with all the talk of big summer signings i´m convinced that its not ´who´the player is but ´what´the team he will play in will be (as has been mentioned a few times...) ´buying expensive foreigners kicking on 30 is not going to make us winners. The best teams are lop sided in their balance, 7 or 8 ´locals´and 3 or 4 foreign boys. blah blah blah i would splash the cash on 1 or 2 of Blackburns team, Duff/Dunn/Jansen, that guy from Forest and perhaps something cheeky? why not Ferguson from Scotland? (not the paunchy one) and the rest? spend big on Larrson. there, thats my lot

He needs to sort out two things before we try to sign anyone.

Who is going to be sold/released?

What formation are we going to predominantly play i.e. If 4-4-2, we need a fecking left winger!

Ferguson would be a great signing but not likely to come here. I'd be happy with Duff but would prefer a taller player!

Who is the best left winger, that isn't playing for a team that will be in the champs league next season along with Man U, Leeds, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea? That should be our first aquisision. Any ideas on a realistic target?

Obviously no-one from the European super powers, unless they are on the fringe of the first team and would rather move to get first team football and loads of money!

I'd still like to see Bart Goor come here. He is quick, fairly big and skilful. He scores goals and always looks a decent player when I've seen him. We'd probably get him for under £5million. Think of the impact of the last Belgian we had!

I still have a funny feeling BR intends playing 3-5-2 next season. That's the only logic I can come up with for signing Quinn (LWB) and O'Brien (right-side of the defensive three).
That would see AS & CC playing up front - with Shola in reserve - and YKD playing behind the big lads, with two holding central m/f players.

Clarky, I have the same feeling and it depresses me deeply. There are all sorts of things about 3-5-2 that are loathsome but the biggest thing is, which successful team EVER played 3-5-2? I could probably only name about three relatively successful sides..

Not Larsson Swift. Trust me, he isn't worth the money.

which successful team EVER played 3-5-2? Both my teams in Football manager play a 3- 5 - 2. The only problem is your three centre backs have to be 3 of the worlds best. It might only be a game but I tried it with young centre backs and it didn't work. I also found playing three at the back with 4 across midfield, one in front and two ahed of them is very sucsesfull. But again your three centre backs ghave to be really good. Hughes , Dabizas and Caldwell would be hard pushed to cope, but Thuram and Stamm and Campbell would work.

Sudden, The only time I saw Henrik Larson was at the Petere Beardsley testemonial, and he was the best player on the pitch. I watch the ocasional Scottish game on Sky TV and Larson comes over as just about the best player in that league, Why don't you rate him?

.....probably cos even you would look decent in the SPL, Rik!
Just look what hits Sutton, Thompson and even Ramon bloody Vega have been up there.

The very top in Scotland are absolutely good. Over the last ten years the very best have been Larsson, Di Canio, Van Hoojdonk, Laudrup, Gazza. They would have performed well (or did) in the Premiership. Below that it falls away dramtically.
