Brownie No.3 Information pleasegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Brownie Cameras : One Thread |
Can anyone give me information on dating and operating a Brownie No.3? Also what size film might be used. We found the camera in my grandmother's house, the markings on the metal frame inside say "Kokak Brownie No. 3" with 4 patent dates, the latest 1903. Thanks.

Hi, Marie, you'd be better off dating a different kind of camera - the Brownie No. 3's are known to be stand-offish and uncommunicative...Oh, wait! Not that kind of dating? Sorry.
The No. 3 Brownie was manufactured from 1908 - 1934, was listed for $4.00, and took 124 film, which you can't get any more.
This is according to the Kodak customer service pamphlet AA-13, "History of KODAK Cameras".
There were also a No. 3 Folding Pocket Brownie and a No. 3A Folding Autographic Brownie, but a "Brownie No. 3" (with the number following the name) isn't listed.
Hope this helps.
