Can TechPan survive with T-max Dev.&1-hour Lab ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Maybe I am not up to the standards, but liked to test TechPan having got only T-max dev. available and a good 1 hour lab I print other B7W at with good results.

So is it worth trying ?

My initial reaction is "don't even bother."

You'll most likely just get some very, very high-contrast negs/prints...which you may like, but may not be what you intend.

Personally I don't think TP is worth fooling with, after fooling with it for several years. It has odd color sensitivity, finicky development characterstics, is very slow, and can be sensitive to humidity changes, giving lots of out-of-focus negs because the film's bulging.

As atated above, you will just get a mess. Tech Pan can give beautiful negatives yielding grainless, sharp 11x14 prints from 35mm with proper development and exposure. See Ed's site for recommendations for TP.

Andrew, For sure, you'll get some really "artistic" pictures and, as side effect, will drive this 1hour lab nuts. Cesar B.
