women's plus size travel clothing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Travelite.FAQ Packing Guide : One Thread

I've been frustrated by the dearth of women's travel and outdoor clothing in plus sizes. Any suggestions? I am looking for specialty materials like shirts and underwear made with CoolMax, or practical, lightweight pieces made to layer, mix and match with wrinkle resistant material or Tencel. I'm also looking for a microfiber or lightweight raincoat (for dress, not hiking--I found a parka). I know I am not the only full-figured traveler out there! Don't those designers realize those of us with a bit more insulation need Coolmax the most?! I am hoping to spend next summer in Paris, but I am always on the lookout for good traveling clothes. Thanks!

Travelsmith is offering more of their clothing in women's sizes. Check out their website at http://travelsmith.com. Another good option is Junonia (http://junonia.com). Neither company is exactly what I'd call cheap, though.

Two more companies offering more in the way of large sizes are Land's End and L.L. Bean. Land's End is now telling customers which of their styles are 'relaxed fit' and you might find that even an XL will work for you.
