Durst L184 Enlarger and Cold Light

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

Hello:

Anyone using a cold light head with a Durst L184 enlarger who might be able to give some advise as to how to set up my L184 condenser for cold light? Which cold light brand - evenness of contrast spacing - filter sets - print exposure repeatability - etc.

Thank you

Arista has cold light heads for both Durst 5x7 and 8x10's. You might check with them.

I used to own the 5x7 Aristo V54 CLH for my 138S and it tended to be a bit uneven for me. I had a Metrolux with it for stability, but those tubes just didn't want to cooperate. Bright but uneven. Those Aristo heads for Durst platforms are generally Special Order items. Call Jens at World Images. 503-846-1492 They are now the Durst North American distributors for 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, and 12x16 enlargers. Jens should be able to give you a few different options.

If pricing is not an issue, your probably better off getting a Durst Dichro head....and side step the filter issue. Dialing in contrast with a dichro head is simple enough.

Me??? I am sticking with my condensers...
