Animated ads for TNT Women's soccer league

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

Hey, I just saw some cool ads on tv for the new all women soccer league in the US. It showed several well known players turn into animated versions of themselves. Some of the women looked like it could be the work of Peter Chung... And the idea itself is just like the old Cindy Crawford commercial. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I can neither confirm or deny that, but I do like womans soccer. You what the real trick there is, its just like mens football, only with ladies. Similar to the wnba only these ladies aren't really big. I got this idea, keep it quiet, for womans tennis. What could be better! I'll make a fortune.

Attrox, Well, I haven't seen the finished ad yet- I don't subscribe to cable - but yeah, I did the character designs for the animated versions of those players about two months ago for Yu and Co., the producers of that promo you saw. The versatile British animator Mike Smith directed the spot with animation by Wild Brain in San Francisco. Wild Brain is a studio made up of former Colossal Pictures artists. Colossal was the studio where Aeon Flux was produced.

So congratulations, you win today's "Frosty" (in honor of Miss Frostbite, who got this whole "spot-the- Aeon-Flux-connection" thing going with her Checkers commercials posts).

Awesome, it is nice to see good commercials on. I believe I saw it on TNT itself, however I have seen spots for this WUSA league all over the place. Also, I have noticed there are a lot of different commercials (they are really trying to sell this whole idea) so you're gonna have to keep a lookout for the animated one.

Great work, Peter, and I am glad I got a response from you (not only because you were able to answer the question, but because it's cool to see people able to get in touch with the artists themselves and to see the level of interaction that we have reached in this digital day and age).

That's East Coast time, right? I'll keep an eye out for it...

It's not there yet, but give it about another week or two and then go to www.adcritic.com. I'm sure it will show up. If it doesn't, just contact them and tell them you'd like to see it. You'll also find a whole bunch of other great TV commercials from the US and other countries. (note: you need quicktime to view them) It's a lot easier than hoping to find a commercial on TV during a certain time.

Just a little P.S. One of the Checkers spots is there also. Just enter Checkers in the search bar. (this is incidentally what you will want to do to find the Soccer ones when they arrive at the site)
