Because Hamlet rocks! Look at it (and when I say "it", I mean Branagh's film version). Murder, deception, sex, betrayal, love, loyalty, and Rufus Sewell's Fortinbras. What more can you want? Seriously, it has lasted so long because it's a good story. When it is done well, it makes you feel like you're alive. The full range of human emotion is explored and everyone can relate on some level to Hamlet's fear of dying and pain in living. We have all lost someone we love. We have all felt betrayed at some point in time. We have all felt uncertainty at what the future holds for us. Hamlet is about being human.

Because it's so BLOODY GOOD!!! (Don't write that in a paper.

It's got action, thrill, ideas, beautiful poetry and prose, round characters, layer upon layer of meaning and allusion, tragedy and comedy, and a lead who you just want to help out and give a big hug to. Pity Ophelia's such a wuss, but well, you can't have quite everyth

I think Hamlet is the best play ever written by a genuis(Shakespeare rules) Just like Romeo and Juliet it rocks. A play that consists of Murder, madness, sex, love and betrayal can't be anything else but brillant. I think the langusge used is great especially the posion and disease imagery which is exceptionally good. I think it has become famous because Shakespeare is so famous. Lets face it Hamlet makes you cry, well it made me. The plot is superb. I could go on for hours but i have to go. p.s i think Keneth Branagh is well sexy in the vid. bye :)

"Hamlet" represents the person within ourselves that we never acknowledge. We see him experience the obstacles of lifes betrayal and effect on human nature, an experience that we ourselves endure in a lifetime. It is famous because it is read by those who are educated enough to appreciate it, and can relate to everybody on some intimate level. we all experience love, sex, betrayal, and a need for vengeance at some point.
