New web site and mailing list!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm in the process of creating a web site for us. It will have links to several forums as well as storage for HTML pages (I have 30 MB of storage and no banner or pop-up adds!). So if you have information such as the seed saving info that sharon is going to scan, let me know and I'll put it up permanently on the web site.

The web site is very preliminary right now - I haven't had much time to devote to creating it - so please forgive the dust and mess there. I am planning on adding to it over time, and feel free to give suggestions for links or any additions that you would like to see included.

Here's a link to the new web site:

Also, I've created a Beyond the Sidewalks mailing list at Yahoo! Groups:

http://groups. yahoo.com/group/beyondthesidewalks
The main reasons I created it was to inform members of updates to the Beyond the Sidewalks website and to contact members when the Greenspun forum was down for any extended length of time.

That's all for now...

I like the name for the website, and the tree graphic in the corner. Jen Delyth is one of my favorite artists, we're thinking about using the same logo for our Druid Grove.

I keep wondering what we have done to deserve all the nice things you do for us Jim. Thanks!

Hmmmm, thanks for the info on the artist's name, Sherri. I found the images using Lycos' multimedia search engine so didn't know the artist's name. You wouldn't happen to have her email address would you? I probably should get permission from her to use these images.

I hope it's not a problem with her as they are beautiful and I'd be dissapointed if I had to take them down...

Here's the URL for her website http://www.celticdesigns.com/index.html

Most artists don't mind as long as it's a noncommercial site, but some are more protective of their work than others. I don't know what her policy is. We were just all going to buy T-shirts from her site with the design on it to get around the copyright issues.

debra: Well, you guys are a pretty nice bunch so that makes it easy for me to do this. I guess you could consider it enlightened self- interest on my part. :-)

Sherri: Thanks for the address. I'll contact her and make sure it's all right to use the image(s).
