greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am trying to find a food-grade 45 gallon drum, preferably plastic. I will make a compost tumbler out of it. I live in Vallejo, CA. 94591. All leads appreciated. Thanks

That is an odd sized drum. If you have some leahway, a standard 30 gallon or 55 gallon barrel is available from United States Plastic Corporation. Their Fax #419-228-5034. Customer Service #419-228-2242. Their toll free #1-800-537-9724. Mailing address is United States Plastic Corp., 1390 Neubrecht Road, Lima, OH, 45801.

It was told on one of the forums that Coca-cola bottling plants sometimes sells or gives away barrels that syrup come in. If you have one nearby you might give that a try.

Could that 45 gallon drum size be Canadian? It sounds mighty close to our (NZ) old-style Imperial drum size of 44 gallons.

As noted 45 is an odd size. 50 or 55 gallon is more common. You might check with any bottling companies, juice, soda maybe wine. Also army surplys/survival stores. Not sure were Vallejo is within the state but Major suplus is in Gardena http://www.majorsurplusnsurvival.com/index.htm

I have several 55 gallon food drums. I would be willing to sell them for $10 dollars a piece + s/h, if you would like me to ship one too you drop me an email.
