The year after my friend died, in 1986. While people knew I was grieving his loss, nobody knew exactly what he meant to me (no, not a lover--but very strong feelings), and I felt I was grieving alone.

When I was married to my first husband. I was more lonely sitting in the same room with him than when I was alone in the house...

The lonliest time in my life was after my live-in relationship ended and I had to give away my golden retriever Jesse, whom I adored. I gave her to a friend of a friend, a woman named Judy whose dog named Jesse had died two years prior. I was living alone in a one bedroom apartment trying to keep my faith, but wondering why God couldn't let me just have my dog. Judy and I became friends, I visited and took Jesse on vacations with me over the years. Then Judy severed her double lot and a builder put a nice reproduction Victorian home next to hers and when I would visit I would admire the new house. Well, five years later I was married with 2 small children and my husband and I bought that house and lived beside my old Jesse until she died last winter.

These days my life's pretty lonely. I really don't have many friends, because I'm just not a social person. Though I act happy and in control, my life's pretty much one big mess and I know it. ...I'm only 15!

Growing into late teenage as a latch key kid. No brothers or sisters and Mom and Dad both working because of the necessity for them to both work for us to survive. The depression was a bummer

The transition I'm in now--going to college and trying to define myself and my goals and perspectives in life. It's very unnerving, and not being with someone makes it that much harder. But I guess, being with someone would only defeat the purpose.

I've separated for five years. The loniest time in my life is any time when my small daughter get sick or when she ask her father's love. I really fell the load of life and the terrible loneliness. I really long for a steady shoulder to cry on, just to cry on not to depend on. I don't want to be piteous in people's sight.

after me and my best friend fell out in seventh grade. She was my only friend at that point. my other true best friend moved away. I never fully recovered from the first one and that until I forgot about her and realized that life goes on and you can't relive the past. You've got to remember and have good times without that person. We just went our seperate ways and moved on and pretty soon all of the laughter turned into memories of what we used to have, and became pretty much just amusement out of courtesy, not genuine gut-busting giggles we would share when we were best friends.
