dB... they're doing my head in

greenspun.com : LUSENET : COONEYWORLD : One Thread

Hey there John

It's Beck Allan from Group A. I have a question about dB. In my notes and calculations, i use 20*10-6. For example if I wanted to find out the dB for 1Pa dBspl=20(log10 1-log10 .00002), however Paul uses 200*10-6 (ie. dBspl=20(log10 1-log10 .0002)). I tested both ways and the difference is 20dB (i only tested it once, so it may vary based on the Pa). So tell me oh wise one which is the right way????
