Happy Birthday BTS Forum!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Hey guys... guess what?

We're one month old today! I can't believe it's only been one month, can you? As of this posting we've had 1341 messages posted to the BTS forum! Amazing!

Joy and I are tied for first with 104 postings each followed closely by Diane with 103 postings and Sheepish close on her heels with 97 postings. Way to go, guys!

I'm really glad I made the decision to start this forum. I had my worries that it would be a bust and that I'd end up talking to myself but that hasn't been the case. And I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for proving me wrong.

I've enjoyed making friendships with all of you. And I hope over the months (and years?) to come we continue to grow those friendships.

So, I'll stop my yapping now and get busy cutting the virtual birthday cake. Anybody want ice cream with their cake?

I don't see the cake! Okay, who stole it? Will we have to check for crumbs?

Thanks for starting the forum, Jim, [smile] and "thanks" for reminding everyone how gabby (typey?) I am! [frown]

Joy: LOL!

I'm having trouble with Brinkster.com's web hosting so that may be why you're not seeing the picture. I had some trouble seeing it, too.

I went in and changed the code so it grabs if from a different web site. Hope that makes a difference as I don't want to lose the cake before the party is barely started!

Wow Jim, fast month!!! I also thankyou for starting this. We have a good thing going here and I want to do my part at keeping it that way. Blessings, hope you are feeling all "repaired". Haha Joy, you finally passed me!!!......it has been sooooooo hard to keep quiet enough to let it happen. LOL ;}

I see the cake now!

Hey, Jim! I just realized, I knew a guy named Jim Morris in college - - UWM (Milwaukee), this would have been the school year Fall 1972 - Spring 1973. He roomed with a guy named Danny and their housefellow's name was Glen (or Glenn?). That wasn't YOU, was it?

If it was, I still have incriminating photos of you somewhere . . . . :-P

Happy Birthday!!! Time sure flies when you're having fun. This is a really nice forum, lots of friendly people here. Sometimes, though I feel I'm eavesdropping on lots of personal conversations and hate to drop in. But the advice is excellent!!

Happy Birthday everyone!! Thanks for the cake, Jim. Darn, I was going to start that diet today, too! Oh well. (Gotta drop 10 lbs...I'm starting to look like that cat on the other post...and he's the same height I am! I have a hiking/rafting gig in three months!) So I'll pass on the ice cream and no cream in the coffee. But slice me a big piece of that there cake!

Thanks for starting this forum. It's fun (and I'll shut up and let someone pass me!)

Marcia-some of us are just more blabbermouths here than in real life. Not me,of course, you understand! I'm quite quiet and reserved on this forum.Really. I am. Really.

So,Marcia, you just go ahead and jump right in, and enjoy the party!

Jim,I'll light a candle.Started April fools day,eh? Seems apropo.Wonderful day! Love it! Couldn't have picked a better one. Day I was born ,after all, many moons ago.

Thanks for your work in putting this forum together. I'm not real good at effusive praise,so just a big virtual kiss, instead! *

Diane: Thanks for thinking of me. I'm on the road to "better" and hopefully will reach "just fine" in no time.

Joy: Well, now... incriminating photos you say? Would that be incriminating in a *good* way or a *bad* way? I wouldn't want to deny or confirm anything before weighing the potentials of jail time or bragging rights. But seriously it wasn't me. I've only been to Eau Claire a few times and to Hudson SEVERAL times for alcoholic consumption as a teenager. That was before uniform nationwide drinking age laws - MN was 19 and WI was 18 at the time so OF COURSE I went to WI to drink when I was 18. But I've never been close to Milwaukee...

Tren: I'll take mine black, thanks. Well, maybe just a little bit of cream.

Marcia: Like Sharon says, we're a bunch of gabbers so don't feel like your eavesdropping or anything like that. Just jump right in... the more the merrier!

Sheepish: Well heck, it's a virtual cake after all so fuggidabouit - in fact, have seconds with an extra helping of the virtual ice cream. But I know what you mean about losing weight, I was getting to be a real Fatty McButter Pants, myself. So far I've lost about 60 lbs so I know it can be done. That kitty looked like a Chihuahua compared to me.

Sharon: No effusive praise needed but I'll take that kiss any day. In a platonic way, of course... And a happy - but belated - birthday.

Yes, it's been a pleasant month hasn't it, Kirk? Let's hope the trend continues.

Well, since it wasn't you, Jim, I'm not telling what kind of photos I have -- you'll just have to wonder . . . .

Hey, Marcia, we don't all know each other really well, we just act like we do! It might get us in trouble sooner or later, but we're all so polite, we'll forgive each other!

Thanks, everyone!! I've always been the one that had to be forcefully pushed onto the "stage" of life...but I'm gonna try to open my big mouth a little more often. Now we'll just see who gets herself (himself) into trouble first :)!!!

Hey, happy birthday!!! I've been away for a couple of weeks. Guess I have to stay in touch better so I can stay in the "top ten".

Happy birthday, I'd bet this group is as close to like minded as is possible. Thanks again Jim for putting this together.

Namaste,
