What is the difference between valley glaciers and continental glaciers, and how does each of these form?

Acorrding to our text book a Valley Glacier is defind as: A smaller glacier, or ice cap that flos mainly along well defind valleys in mountains regions. Continental Glacier is defind as: A continuous thick glacier which covers more than 50,00 km2 and moves independently of topgraphic features.

Glacier form from snow that stays throughtout the year. The pressures from the glaciers wt. and heat from the movement and warming temp. cause the snow to change into ice.
