I just bought a bunch of guinea keeets and I'd like to hold a few paiir in continual captivity to be able to get their eggs, but I personally can't tell what sex they are until they a nearly full grown. Does anyone know of a way to sex them when they are 4 days old??? Thanks!

Doreen, according to my wildlife biologist ex bro in law, it's difficult to sex most birds. For instance, I wanted to know the gender of my four Toulouse (?) geese. He told me that male birds generally, and my geese specifically, have a penis lying alongside the cloaca (the all purpose orifice through which all the birds' excrement/urine mixture and eggs, cum etc pass.

How do I find the cloaca on my geese, sez I, after failing to locate any of them? Follow the white, sez he. I tried, but got rather seriously abused by said geese, and decided to sex them by watching which ones layed eggs. That worked fine.
