hi, 1st of all i love this magazine. i was wondering if anyone lives near evansville, indiana.? and do you know of any beekeeping clubs in this area, i haven't been able to find any. also can anyone suggest a couple of good beekeeping magazines.? i appreciate any info you can give to me. thank you janice

I lived in E-ville a few years ago (my hometown) and bought my honey at a health food store. It was locally harvested by a man in Santa Claus. I found an old bottle in the root cellar and it has his name and number on the label. This has been about 3-4 yrs ago and he might be gone because he was older... If you want the name/number email me and I'll get it to you.

I live in Petersburg and there are a few gusy up here. I do knof if you head north on 164 there is a guy not to far out of evansvillie that has three hives on the west side of the road. If you pass his place you will see a big radio tower also on the west. this will be before you get to the radio controled airport on the east side of the road. I am trying to get into bees. I built my hives this year but I do not have bees yet, may not get them till next year. e-mail me and I can tell you where the guys are here in Pike County Grant

The real question might be, are you looking for a bee club, a place to buy honey, or someone to help you get started in bees?

I don't know about clubs or buying honey locally, but I know of someone that can help you get started with bees (but not local). Look for www.huntershoneyfarm.com on the net. Right now I live in Greenwood, & was gathering info for starting a farm. This farm had a display at the state fair (as well as the Indiana Beekeepers Asso.). They will help anyone get started in bees, they sell honey, pollen, & wax, & they will also rent out a hive or two to farms or orchards needing better pollination, so long as the hives are moves at least 100 miles or more from their first home. (Anything less then 100 miles & the bees will migrate home.)
