Well, I just found this site. I'm sort of looking around in the archives to see where people are at. Are you allowing new folks to post here? I've been watching japanime since...well, geez, what year WAS 'Spacecruiser Yamato' made? Thereabouts. We used to love watching the old 'Battle of the Planets' episodes, and looking for flying dead bodies that they hadn't managed to censor. Then we got 8mm movies of episodes with no sound from Japan and watched them on the window shade of a friend's house, trying to figure out what was really going on in the episodes they didn't dub at all.

Oh, I hear you!! I found this board kind of by accident, as a result of some really bad blow-up, knock-down, drag-out fighting on ANOTHER Lusenet board. I thought it would be nice to just do the Anime thing for a while again. We used to have those kinds of fights back in the old APA days as well over the silliest things, like..."If they portray a character with lavender hair, doesn't that mean that it's chesnut in reality??!?!" Wow. Who would have thought that a major broo-ha-ha could get started over that? (Reality? HELLO!! It's a cartoon!!! That character isn't alive! He doesn't exist!!)

Among various guilty pleasures over the years, I was a Gundam fan when everyone else was a Yamato fan....I have liked strange things such as Dr. Slump and Pyonchichi (The Pervert Frog), Patalliro!, Vampire Hunter D, Hokuto no Ken, Space Cobra, Dirty Pair, GoShogun, Captain Harlock, and all kinds of different shows, including of course, Gundam, Yamato, and some of the other big names.

At the moment, I'm reading Inu-Yashi...a friend of mine in Japan has seen some of the animated version of it and says she thinks it's going to be the next big 'thing' out there. She just shipped me a bunch of Zechs doujinshi she got at one of the sales.

Did I hear someone mention that they're *finally* going to run the original Gundam series on Cartoon Network? Do we actually have a date that it's projected for?

I've been into the archives, to try and get an idea of where everyone else is at and I have a feeling that I'm WAY old here!! I forgot to mention other things like...oh...Eroica Yori Ai O Komete, Deimos no Hanayome, GodMars, Brygar, Pet Shop of Horrors, Vampire Princess Miyu, Black Angels, Totoro, Lupin III, and Urashiman, to name a few more. So what do other folks here like?

I was reading comments of cartoon vs. anime....and I dunno, it seems like its hard to make the distinction of which are cartoons (like, say, Pyonchichi) and which are Anime (like, say, Totoro). To me, it's all anime. They're both for 'kid' audiences, but I was 'way over 21 when I saw/enjoyed them. I adore 'Totoro', mainly for the great, quality artwork on the backgrounds and architecture. Dang, but I'd like to find the time to put something like the spirit tree onto the bedroom wall!!

Anyone seen the Gundam Wing Art of Self-Destruction site? 3 x 5 Theatre just cracks me up. Under threat of bodily dismemberment, she's now considering at least finishing the story. (Once she does, I've told her we'll cancel the contract with the hitman...)

Okay, now I'll *really* scare you. I passed the 35 mark a while back too....gettin' old ain't for sissies. But the paychecks are better. I decided to go by Remy, as in Remy Shimada, because she's been one of my favourite female characters (along with Esmeraldas, Noin, Kei &Yuria) because she wasn't a wimp and could kick ass all on her own. (and she didn't go around wearing stupid skirts and going "oooh!" all the time -- hey, remember, back then that was a rare quality!!)

She also got a nice strange (severely wacky) boyfriend like Bundole. And when she was pushing 60 (Les Tempes des Etranger), she was driving a great red sports car, and still kicking butt. What's not to like?
