Hi all,Got a 3.5 hp briggs and stratton engine on a water pump. It will only run if the choke is on at least 3/4. Any ideas before I ruin my saturday? I'm sure there is a simple answer,I'm just to close to the problem to see it, thanks in advance,Daryll

Look for an air leak by spraying WD40 or starting fluid on the outside of the carb, when it speeds up you have found the leak. Second option, disassemble carb and clean all ports within, and prove to yourself they are open by spraying WD40 from the can nozzel into the ports and watch it exit through the other end. Third option, 2X4 or sledge your choise!

clean the jet,, bet there is something in there blocking it,, sounds like a simple tune up either way. Might as well change the plug while your there

I agree with Mitch that it sounds like an air leak. If you can't find it with the wd-40, make sure it's not sucking air with the gas. The seal between the carb and the block is the usual culprit.
