Cherry Tomato Leaves Gone

greenspun.com : LUSENET : garden project : One Thread

I have a young cherry tomato plant in a large pot on a table in my backyard. I went out this morning to find the leaves gone and just the main stem remaining. The cuts on where the leaves were look very clean. I can't tell if it was an animal or a disgruntled neighbor with a pair of scissors. Are young tomato plant often victimized in such a way by animals?

Most likely snails. They leave pretty clean cuts. Look for slimy trails.
