Ozone readings in the Sacramento area reached an unhealthy level Thursday afternoon, an air quality monitoring agency reported.
By 2 p.m., the ozone levels in a wide area from southwest of Elk Grove to southwest of Roseville reached an air quality rating of 124, which is considered unhealthy for people with breathing problems, the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District reported.
Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, were told to limit prolonged outdoor exertion, the agency said.
The alert urged people to:
-- eliminate any unnecessary vehicle trips
-- arrange to carpool with friends or co-workers
-- postpone errands
-- use public transit whenever possible

We usually get these days in July or August. It's early this year. Yuck.
