Cell Phones....Can we get reamed anymore?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : digital ink : One Thread

Ok, I've been screwed by two differnet cell companies, Alltell (Formerly 360) and that godless company called Verizon....
I now have a suncom service, and I can't complain about it......ONCE I LEAVE MY HOUSE!.

I think I can use it in the house when the vernal equinox meets the linear application of the moons of uranus.
I have to walk to the street, not the driveway, front porch, almost across the street to get a signal....yet if I'm at work, I get great reception, but walk down to the shitter, no service!
I also get peeved taht this phone (a Nokia 5600 or something) doesn't have the "END" feature when you get a call and don't want to take it

I'm really just blowing smoke, but the Verizon bill got out of hand in a hurry! Joe Pesci said "THEY FUCK YOU WITH THE CELL PHONES"
.......horror stories of mass cell phone hysteria.?

I use Sprint, and haven't really had any problems. Occasionally somebody will call and my phone will decide it's not going to ring, but it hasn't done that in awhile. Every once in awhile I'll be talking and it'll lose the signal, so I'll have to call somebody back -- but no so often that it's a real pain in the ass or anything. The only real place I've had a problem with losing the signal is in our kitchen, for some reason.

I LOATHE Verizon. You have to call my cell phone like six times before the fucker will actually ring, and I wouldn't even THINK about calling their customer service number. It's always busy. Ugh.

i have verizon right now and i actually happen to have no problems with it. around my area sprint pcs is the one that drops all your calls, you never get any signal because you're walking in and out of zones so you can miss a call at any given point. voicestream is okay, but they don't have great signal either. it really depends upon the area you're in because they have towers/antennas around you.. they probably interfer with each others signal sometimes too.. because i know that when my brother uses his sprint service up near the college, he can't get any signal but i can because i have verizon. anyway.. those little stickers that claim to be internal antenna boosters... they really do work. i had given one to my friend who has a voicestream phone because she never got more than one bar of signal, and now she always has full signal.

i have "the carson daly phone" (what everyone says upon seeing it- i think he does a commercial for it. i just got it cuz it's the cheapest). at&t wireless serves me faithfully. i've had this plan & this phone for about three months now, and it's NEVER done ANYTHING wrong. i use it in the boonies; i use it in silicon valley; i've used it in the basement, bathroom and attic. they warned me the signal might fade at certain times in certain places, but it hasn't- not once. i use it a LOT too. if cell phone radiation poisoning is more than a myth, surely cell phone radiation poisoning is what i shall die from.

also, it's cheap. nearly everyone in my phonebook is out of the "free" are, yet my phonebill remains $27/mo. i'm not complaining..

do you think there is any cell phone that works all the time?i can us mine if i go across the street and stand in my neighbors driveway.I thought it was my phone and i had other people in my home and they had to go outside to make a call. so don't feel like a cherry. we are all getting the family jewels up the chocolate highway.

The ONLY reason i'm still with Sprint is the price, not the phone service or customer service. If you call *2 and it's actually not busy, you can plan to be on hold for 30 min minimum. sure it's a free call, but your battery will never last through the hold wait. Almost on a daily basis i miss calls because my phone doesnt ring. then i dont get the voicemail notification until about 45 min after it was left. grrrrrrr. Their agents are the most annoying, always treating you like a 2nd grader that doesnt know how to operate a phone. i hear virgin mobile is starting in the usa soon. I can't wait, i hear they've done great in the uk.
