Hi Darryn,

Seed banks are collections of germplasm (seeds) carefully prepared and stored under optimal conditions so as to ensure the seed's viability after many years of storage. An intregal part of a good seed bank's program is the periodic testing and growing out of the seeds. Seed banks can be run by governments, companies, or other organizations.

Seed banks are an important tool in helping to preserve seed varieties from becoming extinct.

I hope that this helps.

Mike
