electric ATV's and monster golf carts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Somone mentioned on this forum several months ago something about the electric Gorilla ATV.

I thought this sounded like a really cool idea - after all, the loud gas ATV's take a lot away from the peace of the farm.

In researching the gorillas, I thought they looked ugly and klunky. It sounds like they would be okay, but they turned out to be pretty expensive.

I later found a site on "monster golf carts". See http://www.golfcartsonline.com/ - these have the big ATV tires and a lift kit. They don't go as fast as an ATV, but they do apparently have a great deal of power. The guy on the phone says they can pull more than a ton on relatively flat land.

Just thought I'd share.

Paul,

Price wise how did the golf cart (with accessories) compare to the Gorilla ATV?

Performance wise..same question?

With the gorilla, the seat was optional. I can't remember what the gorilla cost, but it did seem to be much more expensive than the golf carts.

Refurbished, used golf carts start at $2000. The "monster" golf carts (also refurbished) start at $3000.

Not sure about performance. I suspect they would both be about the same.

My sweetie bought a wonderful used golf cart for $700. It travels about 28 miles per hour and is very quiet. It has been a godsend to drive around in and check the fence lines, get mail, and run back and forth in from the house to the outbuildings. The little people can drive it too and it's their favorite thing to do when they visit. It's not a work horse, but sure is a step saver.

It may have been me who posted about the gorilla cars. I think they sell for about $4K new. I recommend that you do a google.com search for electric vehicles. There are hundreds of choices! One of them will go from zero to 60 mph in four seconds, and tops out at 140 mph. Like we really need all that power! The point is, though, that these things aren't the sluggish little cars we seem to think they are anymore.
