What Happened to St. Joseph Hospital?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

As part of my job, I am trying to verify a physician's training at St. Joseph Hospital in the early 1960's. What happened to the hospital? Does another hospital have those records? Thanks for your help.

The hospital itself is now a condo.

St Josephs was a Catholic hospital in SF. you might try the Archdiocese, i believe that it is located on Dolores Street near Mission Dolores...i don't see a phone number in the yellow pages for the Archdiocese, you might try Mission Dolores ( or any Catholic Church in SF ) the phone number for Mission Dolores is 415 621-8203

With all Due Respect to the person answering previous to me, St Joseph's Hospital is no where near Dolores St. It is in the hills over looking the Eureka Valley Castro and Market area. I believe it may be on or near Buena Vista Street. It borders the Eureka Valley and Haight districts. When I was a boy I was hospitalized there. IT is now a convalesant home of some kind I believe. The building is still there. As for records, It would be best to check with the Arch Diosis on CHurch at 16th Street. They will be able to tell you where to find what you need.

The old hospital is indeed a condo now. Probably one of the most visable buildings in the area called Buena Vista Heights. My brother was born their and I had a view of it from my front window as a boy growing up on Noe Street in the 60's & 70's.

As far as the records are concerned, good luck.
