Hi All,

We're staying busy still out in the garden, the weeds are wanting to take over my pathways, so far it's just dirt, no hay down yet. Steve goes over them with the tiller, but with all the rain, they're fighting back! Our walkways are pretty wide inbetween the raised rows for the wheelbarrow to fit. Keeping the weeds out of the beds is easy, it's so soft, but the pathways are hard.

The tomatoes are about a foot and a half high, doing great. Peppers are good too. All the seeds for the squash, watermelon, cukes and cantalopes are up. Last year we had allot of seeds that didn't come up, it was a bit drier, but this year it's staying wet.

Steve got the concrete pad finished for the woodstove, it looks nice. I got all my floors painted, and now we have to take off our shoes before comming in. So far it's working, and it's much less work for me cleaning. I usually mop my wood floors so much I wear all the paint off.

Our hay guy got his alfalfa cut and round baled yestered, we'll need to go get a roll today. He raised the price from 30 to 40 for some reason (first cutting?) He does make beautiful hay, and keeps it all inside a big shed. Still haven't found anyone to mow the pastures, must get them mowed soon. So, what'cha all up to?

Good mornin, Cindy! Looks like the sun is going to shine for 2 days straight up here in hoosier land and I can finally finish planting the gardens. Got my canning garden out at my sisters and a smaller one behind the house here in , yuck, shall i dare say...town. I'm still trying to get used to the planting season up here. I messed up and planted beans weeks ago and the little buggers never came up. Too cold and wet for them I guess. Going to replant and give em another shot. Don't reckon it's too late. My gardening mind is still in Tennessee and I had started too early for here. It's a wonder I haven't froze my tomatoes yet, but their still hanging on. I am enjoying the dirt up here, though. It's actually black instead of orange! Go figure. hee hee When we tilled up the garden at my sisters, I kept raking up the dirt out of the paths to put on the beds, didn't want to waste good dirt! Everyone thought I was nuts. They told me that the dirt really, actually, goes down very deep and there was plenty of it! Old habits are hard to break. Have a great day and hope the suns' shinin in beautiful Ky. for ya.

I got my first ripe tomatoes Sat. , boy, were they good! Got all the corn, watermelons, cant., okra, squash, sweet potatoes and part of the beans and peas hoed out--the garden looks like a picture. We have had just enough rain, when we needed it--not too much not too little! I planted two more grapes that I purchased at Lowes ($6.00) a pcs. They we about 3 1/2 ft. tall and had lots of roots. The birds are getting the blueberries as fast as the ripen. My thornless blackberries are loaded--should be ready in a week or so. I put supers on the beehives- -they are really working my clover!

Has anyone heard from Vicki--From Lonesome Doe? I do hope that she, her family and goats are alright. Along with all the others in TX. Irene, how are you doing now? Our prayers are with you all! Debbie T in NC
