Counting my blessings (Philosophy)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
For years my husband and I would drive through the country(we were city dwellers then)and watch families in the country, just dreaming .We would wave to the friendly farmers and pretend for a minute that they were our neighbours. Now we are here. What a beautiful feeling. My herb garden was planted last night, the meat chickens are doing well, the hens are laying and our new foal was born without a vet bill!!!!One of our 5 kids can often be found "doing school" in a an old tree.I fall into bed dog-tired,and usually a little sun-burnt.Now our city friends come here to get away from it all.ALL is defined as 3 bathrooms, two jobs ,day-care and a huge mortgage.Sometimes I forget how bad it was to want this life ,never knowing if it would happen or not.Today i remember and I am greatfull.

Teri, I'm so delighted for you. How wonderful you've finally found your true place in this world. I'm right there with you in spirit if not in real life. Let's have some ice tea on your porch.Wishing you enough.

Thanks for the reminder .Often we dwell on what we don't have , not what we do .

Oh !!!...we've been here 15 years but today was one of those epiphanies where you're seeing it all again for the first time. His mercies are new every morning!!!

teri, must be an epiphany sort of day because I am doing the same thing you are doing and it has been 15 years almost we have been here. It is finally warm and the garden is growing in leaps and bounds and the baby goats are playing in the goat yard until they get hot and then just flopping down. The dog keeps going down to the creek and cooling off with me as I cool my feet on my "breaks". Strawberries are on in full force here and finally sweet and juicy. Life is good!!!
