Is there any research that gender effects what abilities e.g mathmatical, science based, engliash skills e.t.c one has? and if so what are they?

The literature on this is enormous. Just to give you a sample, a search of "gender difference and math" on the APA PsychInfo index (back only to 1977) turned up 209 references. I've copied just the first 25 below (sorry for the bad formatting).

Hi Kate, there is lots of research on gender. I don't know if I can answer your question though because I'm not quite sure I understand what it is you want. You're using some terms that psychologists use alright, gender, effects, and abilities; however, you use them in such a way I have to guess what you are driving at, and I don't want to do that. What I can tell you is, go to your college library and use a psychology search engine like Psychlit. Type in your key words. I'm sure a reference librarian will be glad to help you. And then you will be able to read the abstracts to articles you might think will be of help. Best, David
