Worm fattener recipe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have been using the following feed mixture to supplement my worm's normal diet.

Chicken layer 50 percent Flour 10 percent Powdered milk 10 percent Bran or wheat meal 20 percent eggshells or crushed oyster shells 10 percent

I sprinkle this mixture on top of the food wastes once each week. After just a few weeks the worms are nice and fat.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try on the next breeding and fattening bin. I have also used old potatoes and dry dog food ground up with bedding as a fattening mix. Your recipe sounds like a real effective additive and not near as messy as the potato liquid is and it won't need to be "moisture adjusted" for water logging. Now is the time to keep those little critters fat and sassy for the bait sales :>)
