.......Screacher's comin' hyem! (thanks to Dougal for the lyrics)Well, to be exact, he's aalreddy arrived lyek. Aye, aftaa thorty-two yers of living in exile in ManUreland, aah've retorned ti me roots. Just setup gaff in Powburn (well, it's aalmost hyem) and it's grand ti be back. Instead o' seein' OT from me orrifice winda, aah can noo luk ower the Big Rivor and see the Angel wi' hor arms spead wide (at least aah think it's hor arms). And the view from me hoose is stunnin' - enuff ti bring tears ti a man's eyes (if yiz divvent believe iz, just ask Softie). It's makes risin' in the mornin' aal worthwhile (if ye knaa wot aah mean).
Noo, wee else is left ti bring hyem? Howay lads 'n' lasses - yiz knaa it meks sense ;-))

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001
Glad you've made it back!! :))

Congrat, Screach!
-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001
Welcome home big guy!
-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001
The only way to cope with that view would be to pop down the Plough until closing time ;-)
-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001
umm... for us non-geordies....I think he said he's glad to be home thrown in with a bunch of spectacular adjectives that make it sound like he might have marbles in his mouth. But no worries, if screacher is home, the better it'll be when we foreign toon come a knockin'!!!!

Welcome home Bonny lad.
If that's Powburn on the 697 we're almost neighbours.
Tears ti yer eyes?? Must be a pub opposite.
-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001
Aye Nooky Winder, it is indeed on the A697. Tried for a place in Hepple but was told the bottom had fallen out of the market in the last couple of weeks. We'll have to meet up for a pint - the Angler's Arms in Wheldon Bridge might be a good compromise, or any other pub on the 697!! Haven't managed to get BT sorted yet (and judging by Clarky's experience, it will be a close run thing between getting a phone and NUFC winning a trophy).PS. Softie, the view was shrouded in mist this morning. Made it even more mysterious looking.

Well done young Screacher. I take it you choose the location in view of its closeness to Hedgeley Hall? :-)It's clear that anyone who's anyone is moving back North ;-)

Spot on Bobster. Yes, I'm branching out. I wondered how long it would take folks to twig. Believe me, the place was a snip - quite a cut above the rest that I saw. It's only a short-term lease and the Screach will be very sad when he leaves.Mind, it was a close thing - the village just south of Hedgley Hall to the east of Powburn is called Titlington. No influence from that direction - eh Softie??

PS. I don't suppose Alan Shearer will fancy coming to visit???
-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001
Surprised you couldn't splash out a bit at nearby Great TossonShame it's only a short lease in Powburn. You might find yourself setting root. But only a sap wood buy if they weren't totally sure. Knotty problem house buying
erm...bark, chippings, er...umm...capiliary action, osmosis...

Bobby - yer a flippin' garden pest ;-)
-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001
Well done Screach. Powburn? Is that the place where they've just had a spate of vandalism against garden shrubbery?
-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001
Not yet it's not Jonno...
-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001
Hey..... who changed the thread title!??
