A Prayer For Healing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Recent topics have erupted into a cornucopia of character assassinations, false accusations, and mean-spiritedness. I propose a holy moratorium on such actions seeing they represent conduct unbecoming of Christian character. My heart is heavy and my soul is distressed with the scatalogical comments made against Rev. John Fisher. Contrary to the implied statements expressed by some, I do not believe Rev. Fisher is "evil incarnate" regarding the Poteet incident. The ministry of his online service is the most important technological tool of the AMEC. If anyone knows a competing alternative which provides theological education, AME history and polity and real time discussion, please let me know!! Let's not confuse unpopular management decisions with someone complicit with corruption. I propose we pray for healing of the brokenhearted and a restoration of purpose and mission. The Book of James states that the effectual and fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. QED

Bill I agree with you 100 percent. First of all let me say I support Rev. Fisher and his wife for the wonderful FREE ministry they have provided for all to use. They have poured money and time into this ministry and have done it with love. Thank you Rev and Mrs. Fisher. For many of us this forum is the only way we can get current information regarding our denomination. There comes a time when we must speak out against the injustice that is being done to Rev. Fisher, the time is NOW!! Let us go to Christ in prayer, let us call on God for the protection of this board, but also let us stand in support of Rev. Fisher and this ministry! Let him and others know what this medium means to us. Share the light of Christ but be boldacious Christians and speak out against what is happening. The reality is, any other moderator would have shut this forum down awhile ago. He has not, this is the time to speak up and show your support!! We have the power through Jesus Christ to have a board of love and respect. And the first step is to stand by Rev. Fisher. Take courage Rev. Fisher the battle is not yours it's the Lords!

AMEN my sister, Rev. Fisher is a pioneer in this internet business. While many of us were learning how to spell www, he was making an impact on the web. Another pioneer is Bro. Roosevelt Jennings. I think Rev. Fisher was the first AME to put up a web page, Bro Jennings was second, and I think yours truly was third. I have never met Rev. Fisher in person, but I've read his writings, listened to his sermons and seen his fruit. Jesus said you will know them by thier fruit, ladies and gentelman, REV. FISHER HAS FRUIT.

Blessings

And the people of God said, "AMEN"! Brother Dickens, Reverend Rogers, and Reverend Paris,

Each of you has said a good word and that word is TRUE. To this I can neither add nor subtract. So allow me just to say, AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

I'll add my amen to that as well. I would just add that as we pray for healing, lets appeal to the noblest instincts in all of us, to encourage one another, correct one another in love (and perhaps in private) welcome new voices, (it would be an extraordinary loss for people to not share their view even if unpopular)and to some degree raise our threshhold of feeling uncomfortable--even truth spoken in love can be disquieting. Our struggle is not one of flesh and blood..Much love to all of ya!!

I will also join in the prayer for healing. We must remember the things we allow to come out of our mouths, (and online) can have power. Now God's Word will not return void, but will accomplish what it was set out to do. Satan has a motive also, DEVIDE AND CONQUER.

Let's come together in the Spirit of Love. For it is the only source that will cover a multitude of faults.

I've never met any of you, but will miss so many if this board is discontinued.

In Christ, Carmen

We are all standing in need of prayer and healing. If our church is going to be what God would have it to be, we must reach up in prayer and out in faith. This is the thematic approach that we are using at Heard Chapel,Pembroke,Bermuda. My Christian experience has taught me that prayer still makes the difference.

As I look across the Connection, I see evidence of a number of situations that require prayer. As a people, I believe the AME Church has some of the most gifted and articulate preachers/politicians in the world. Politics will not solve all our problems. Prayer(faith) followed by action can and will make a difference.

Remember me, my family and church family in your prayers.

The healing power of our lord and savior Jesus Christ is still strong and waiting for us in the year 2001. I just want to lift up the prayer ministry that Rev. Fisher has started on the board. It is on the AME Today home page, under SOMEBODY PRAYED FOR ME, you will find it by scrolling down the page near the bottom. There are many prayer requests from June and the latest prayer request was on July 2nd. This is a valuable online ministry for our denomination. And the prayer requests that are posted need our attention. I feel the holy spirit led Rev. Fisher to include this ministry online. I am asking that we remember to check "our online prayer ministry and pray for those who have prayer requests. And for those who do not feel comfortable posting or do not have time to post on the discussion board. Your prayers are needed also. As the family of Christ, we all need each other. God loves us so much. Joy, peace, strength and healing in Christ.
