shrivalling zucchini

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have 2 zucchini plants growing in a large pot. They are probably a little crowded but have been doing well. Lots of flowers and fruit forming. I have been picking for about 4 weeks. However, now, when the zucchini get to be about 3-4 inches long, they begin to shrival and die.

I see no sign of a stem borer or other insect. I water every day ot two as needed and once every two weeks I do a fish emulsion/sea weed foliar spray.

Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreicated. Thank you in advance.

Are you talking about the entire plant dieing or are you talking about the zucchini themselves? The zucchini will not form if they have not been polinated. It will look like they are setting but they will die back. This is an easy fix. The zucchini plants put on both male and female flowers. All you need to do is polinate the flowers yourself. This will ensure polination.
