which wide lens for Crown Graphic camera

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I am looking for a wide lens for a Crown Graphic 2.25x3.25 that will give me shift and movements. Is 65mm f6.8 Schneider Technika Angulon with a Linhof Synchro-Compur shutter a good candidate? any advice is wellcome.

Regards

Amir

According to Schneider, the 65mm Angulon has an image circle of 109mm. On a RH-8 roll holder, you need 96mm of Coverage. Therefore with a Angulon, you wouldn't have much movement available, theoretically. However, I'm sure Schneider's figures are conservative and you could probably use more and still get acceptable image quality. I personally have both a 65mm Wollensak and a 65mm Super-Angulon (purchased respectivily for $100 and $300 dollars) that both work great with full movements available. Lat time I was at Midwest Photo Exchange they had several Angulons and two Wollensak's for sale.
