I just posted a question, but have another one.......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Doula.Com General Discussion : One Thread

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION.LIKE I SAID PREVIOUSLY, I AM NOT CERTIFIED AT THIS POINT,BUT SINCE I AM GETTING ALOT OF RESPONSES,(THANKS TO FRIENDS & FAMILY),I RECENTLY ASKED IF ITS O.K. TO START CHARGING AT LEAST A SMALL FEE FOR MY SERVICES. SO IN ADDTION TO THAT QUESTION,WHAT WOULD SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF CHARGE AT THIS POINT? I STILL WANT TO BE REASONABLE,& I WOULD DO IT ALL FOR FREE IF I COULD,BUT I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO CHARGE FOR NOW, UNTIL I AM CERTIFIED. ANY SUGGESTIONS???? ALSO, DOES ANYONE OUT THERE LIVE IN THE MISSISSIPPI/OR MEMPHIS ,TN AREA THAT WOULD LIKE TO TALK WITH ME,& HELP ME ALONG? IF SO, PLEASE E.MAIL ME at - theresalacey@aol.com thanks everyone, Theresa Lacey

Hi again! I would suggest a minimum of $100 and on up to the average price. You should also think about any other skills you bring to the package such as if you know relaxation massage, infant massage, can take great pictures, etc... Scan a few doula websites and see what they offer with thier packages and find a few things you can offer too. If you have a few things you can do that not every doula offers then you can certainly justify full average price or top price depending on what the skill, service or product is. So check around your area and see what the going rate it. Dont underestimate your value!
