Blast Near U.S. Embassy in Yemen, No Casualties

SANAA (Reuters) - A loud blast rocked a neighborhood housing the U.S. embassy in Yemen's capital on Wednesday, but there were no injuries or damage, a Yemeni security official said. The early morning explosion was caused by what appeared to have been a stun grenade detonated some 270 yards from the U.S. embassy in Sanaa, the official told Reuters.

He said authorities arrested four suspects after the blast.

In June, the United States closed its mission in Sanaa to the public and withdrew investigators probing a suicide bombing of a U.S. warship in Aden in October, killing 17 U.S. sailors.

Yemeni authorities later said they arrested 10 suspected Islamic militants belonging to a group thought responsible for the USS Cole bombing, for allegedly plotting an attack on the U.S. embassy.
