i got a pet chick as a gift (a strange one) a few months back...and its been doing fine...seems like a happy and healthy little bird. But one thing bothers me. When i first got the chick..i noticed that it's crop was a little crooked...it seems to bulge out a little more to the right. It doesnt seem to bother the chicken...and it eats fine...so i dont know if it should bother me. Its about 2 months old now. Is this normal? It doenst seem to hurt or anything.

Yes, it's normal. The crops are situated off to the side and really noticeable after they stuff themselves with treats. :)

You have nothing to worry about!

The same thing happened to me. I ordered some chicks a while back and recieved one little mystery chick. It has a bulge also,to the side a bit. Big enough to push the feathers aside. It has funny legs,no wattles and virtually no comb. I searched the Murry McMurrey poultry catalog and found my bird! It`s a cornish hen! The catalog even discribed the bulge. She is mostly black and smaller than than the other birds. The bulge is a desirable trait for some reason. Has anyone else seen this in the M.Mc. catalog? Can`t find mine right now.

Gee whiz - I had visions of fields of that funny green stuff people sell by the gram.
