Seperate rangefinder made by Leitz of the same kind as used by Leica 1, but has no mounting bracket to attach it to camera. Serial no: 24236. Brassing on the edges but accurate. Black body with chrome dial. Any info including value would be greatly received. (The Leica Collectors Guide at the local library is out for 3 weeks !!)

You don't mount it, hold the Leitz rangefinder in your hands and rangefind the distance and transfer it to your camera.

The Leitz rangefinder is to be mounted vertically in an accessory shoe with its end equipped with a round platform.

A separate rangefinder is really redundant.Because every one is born with a precision rangefinder--- A pair of eyes has a baseline of about 7 cm--- if you learn how to use it, you can measure distance with your eyes as accurately as M6

Dear Martin Tai, I don't see the relevance of your answer to my question. I am trying to find out what is the said rangefinder worth before Monday, when it is coming up for auction.

Sait, I thought you were trying to use the rangefinder. At one time I was looking for a small rangefinder for my Minox camera.

Martin,That really is absolutely brilliant!

I concur, sometimes the simple solutions are the cleverest. Martin was only trying to be helpful in his answers, by the way. Sait did say that *any* info including value would be greatly appreciated.
